Re: Fiat coupe 16v non turbo project
How nice to see a 'non-turbo' and 'non-400bhp-monster' Coupe project at last!
I so look forward to hearing more.
GC
(always wanted a Coupe by the way, ever since that advert 'no-one in Italy grows up wanting to be a train driver'... never did get one!)

Re: Fiat coupe 16v non turbo project
Hello Steffen, please have a look in the competition section at my tipo 16v. You may be aware that between the Tipo series 2 16v and the coupe 16v na there are very few differences, also remebering the body floor pans are the same so all engine locating points are also the in the same place. Infact there are virtually not differences mechanically.

Re: Fiat coupe 16v non turbo project
having stripped the bottom end parts and taken them to be assessed, here are the main things that need to be done, apart from gaskets etc,
new bearings
crank has been scored, they have told me that the crank can be ground because it is a n/a engine however i have heard guy say that is maybe nitrated so not sure?
new oil pump (on the look out for one)
block honing and piston re-ringing - 3 or 4thou" clearance think he said they have
con rods have compressed 3thou" (think this will be the biggest problem, because sorcing new ones will be a problem, as not sure if i can trust second hand ones unless i take a micrometer to check them?)
can any one advise me on a trust worthy place a can get some standard con rods from that will be ok, I'am bit worried that if i get second hand ones that i might get the same problems might have been in a car engine that has over heated? think guy has stoped dealing with standard con rods and pistons? Any advise would be great thanks,
just been told that the con rods could be sent away to be resized which might be a better option?
