Oil choice- Castrol replacement-

Post by Robert »

Hello Guy,

I want to use Castrol RS 10W60 as you advise but this oil does not exist any more it seems there are two new types: Castrol TWS 10W60 and Castrol Sport Edge 10W60.
Can I use equally one of these oils ??

Thank you !

Castrol Edge Sport 10W60 looks like a good choice, here is what Castrol themselves say about it:

Good evening,

You gave me a track to follow and I found on the different specifications of each product that :
RS is API SJ
TWS is API SJ
Edge is API SM

So the last one is more "modern" and better (SM>SJ) from what I understood from API standards.

Concerning ACEA they are all A3 B3 B4.

Hoping it helps all of us using the CASTROL 10W60.

Hi,

I switched to Castrol Edge Sport 10W60 last season and I am perfectly happy. What prompted the change was my oil temperature was exceeding 130 deg C and I was afraid that the X Castrol 'High Mileage' I used was not capabple of handling such high temp. The Castrol Edge Sport 10W60 seems to handle the high racing temp very well.

My recommendation: go for it !
