Recommended Oil Brand Viscosity?

Post by pv269 »

Hi Romilos:

I am using AMSOIL 20/50 in my Scorpion really nice so far.
Have changed over after using 20/50 Castrol.

Engine runs about 10 deg F cooler it seems; furthermore, it appears to wind up a little faster too.

I don't have any scientific proof on this one.

Developed an oil pan leak afterwards and had to go around and tighten all the oil pan bolts.

May have been loose in the 1st place.

No problem now.

I replaced my new oil filter in about 500 miles after the change since I think Synth will clean out your engine very well.

Have heard stories about people owning Maserati Bi Turbos and frying out their turbos due to this.

All hearsay, no proof so.... take it just for what it is worth.

My new engined 81Zagato will be run on some break-in oil for about 2500KM and then go to Amsoil 20-50.

Amsoil makes a 60W racing oil. It is used for the Drag machines as Nitro dilutes oil fairly fast according to the Amsoil sales man.

I'd think you may be able to run AMSOIL 20-50W with some 60 W to thicken things up if you so desire; kind of like someone runs STP etc in their oil; however, I don't know if there would be a compability issue.

Cost of oil$$$$$???? well, what is the cost of a new engine??????

Good Luck, will let you know if I burn up my 2L FI 81Zagato!
