Fiat TC operating clearance: valves

Post by Binio »

Hi Guy!

It`s my second post in Your forum - at first I say "hallo" and show my car.

I have some question about operational clerance on values - 1.6 TC engine (149C2 or same).

What clearance you propose for this engine, because I have 0,3 IN and 0,35 EX and I have problem with noise from the head, particularly when engine is at high temp.

Thank you for any help.

Binio, hi

Set the operating clearance of the valves on the TC at 0.4mm inlet and 0.45mm exhaust.

Your clearances are a bit tight, might make it noisy.

Do the re-shimming operation and see what happens. Check the condition of the cam nose too, it should be round and smooth.

There could be other causes.

If the question was if they have the same length, no they don't, 2.0 items are significantly longer. If you are interested in center-to-center lengths, I could look that up for you. However, I am sure GC has dimensions in head :).

Hope this helps,

Hi Nikola
Yes I would like to know center-to-center lengths. It`s means the 2.0 engine block is higher ?

You cannot increase 1.6 engine capacity to 2.0... You must change complete bottom end, period.
