Excellent post Flavio!

Well done for writing with such a superb well-organised article about your superb car, and for displaying excellent photos in a really professional style.

This must have taken quite some time to write, and it's great to see.

Nice to have you 'on board'!

Hello Flavio,

really good work, kudos go to you!

I have a few technical questions to you:
1) The crankshaft you used was described as stock Fiat part. Is it the crank found in newer 1.6 16v engines (with 80.5mm bore)? If not, where is it coming from?

2) You used stock conrods and stock pistons. How did you compensate for 10mm bigger stroke then? I was thinking of using aftermarket 5mm lower compression height pistons to compensate. Can you please give details which pistons you used?

3) Even with 67.4mm stroke, oil gallery casting on front of the block has to be machined slightly to clear the rods. On all SOHC 1580ccm engines, this is done in factory. However, it seems like going further with stroke would require much material to be removed, effectively breaking into the oil gallery. Do you have a pic of your engine bottom end, viewed from crank side?

4) On 1580ccm 16v engines, there are no threaded holes to carry right engine mount. Furthermore, custom engine mount has to be fabricated to clear the timing belt. Do you have photos of the engine mount made and how it has been attached to the engine?

All the best and continue the good work,
Nikola

Yes my Crankshaft is a stock Fiat part from a Brava 1.6 16v 2003 (80,5X78,4mm).

My rods are smaller (from a Fiat Uno 1.3, not Fire), and my pistons (stocks) are lowered.

I dont have this pictures, but with this rods used in my car, its was not necessery removed so much material.

I made my engine mount, with a modify stock engine mount off a Fiat Uno 1.6 8v.
And add two more mounts, one from a Fiat Tempra, and one "gear box mount" from a Fiat Uno 1.6 86.
Total: 2 engine mounts and 3 gear box mounts.

Sorry about the lately answer

Is that a Brasilian Bravo/Brava with 78.4mm stroke? The Bravo/Brava/Marea 1.6 16v engine has the same bore/stroek as the 1.6 sohc (86.4x67.4mm)

Yes, it's called "corsa lunga" or "long stroke" in italian... both versions are produced in argentina and exported for italy and brasil... They're used in Italy in Doblo, Stilo and in the Lancia Lybra...

In Brasil the "corsa lunga" is used in Doblo, brava (after 2001) and marea.
I think that our palio uses both versions of the 1.6 16v...
