I had bought a replacement head that had been worked on! fitted with GC stage 3 cams and had planned a quick head swap, that was last September.
Once the head was off i decided to remove the short engine and have a look at some other areas, one thing led to another and i ended up carrying out a complete rebuild, new Crank and rod shells, new piston rings (honed cylinders), modified auxiliary shaft as per G.C. recommendation, new oil pump, G.C. 1" belt conversion, thermostat in head modification, all gaskets, tensioner bearing, head gasket bolts, sump studs and bearing shells supplied by G.C. along with a wealth of advise and information extracted from G.C. book and several phone calls/e-mails made to Guy himself for advise on measurements etc.
Today it started first time, some pictures.

Nice project.
Its always the same though, you start off with something small and end up going the whole hog rather than do a half a job, worth it though.

Well, readers - I think Steve deserves some praise for this, no??

Isn't that always the way? As the saying goes, if a job's worth doing........ Nice pics and good to hear it started first time, although looking at the prep, I can't be that surprised that it didn't!

What throttle bodies are You using?
How did You make the plenum?
How much do the pistons protrude over the block?
Cams 3D or 3A?

I would also love to have a closer look at Your red Abarth 131 body - at least thats what I think I see in the background....

Jenvey 40mm throttle bodies.
Cams GC 3A.
Plenum is from a Nissan turbo, modified & welded.
Pistons are normal 130 TC, do not protrude above the block except for the crown.

Car required a lot of body repairs before Tarmac body kit was fitted (From Middle Barton Garage).
After welding repairs to the chassis new front and rear panels, sills, front wings and 2 new doors were fitted, roof gutters removed.
As you can see it was a full windows out rebuild of the body, work was carried out about 7 years ago in the UK by a local garage, as the car lives in Spain (no road salt and little rain) the body work is as good today as it was 7 years ago.
Other modifications include, Fiat Turbo vented front disc conversion, uprated shock absorbers and springs, polly bush suspension, full cage, and of course the Omex EFI/ignition.

I think Guys remark about deserving praise is well in place. It's looking fantastic. I love the bold orange on the car. Is the engine running yet?

Engine started first time, followed G.C advised start up procedure, now run up to 5000 rpm static.

What a transformation! Great work on the bodywork (engine too of course).

Love the wheels. Perfect match.

Beautiful engine, and of course you just got to love the colour of the car! Fiat Racing Orange, as they did it way back in the seventies.
That same colour is on my Spider, people get their sunglasses out when they come near it ;-)

I'd say you have it in your living room, right? (I would if the missus let me...)
