Yes limited resources is always the problem. Cheap tools, definitely agree with you, they always break.
I guess I just got lucky this time. I do have a torque wrench, but also a cheap one. Will need to upgrade before doing this engine.

Why did you choose that filter to be outside the filter housing? I'm fairly certain that the proper filter, inside the housing, would have at least the same surface area and look a lot less "boy racer" than this.

Good to hear you have a running engine in your car. Is it hooked up to the wheels yet?

Yes it is hooked up to the wheels with a 131 2000 box. Feels great while testing.

That filter was just for the looks. Will be upgrading it soon.

I had a 1970 125 same colour as yours. The body and interior was sold years ago, but I kept the motor and running gear, and those parts are now well on the way to becoming a Lotus 7 type sportscar.

But I kept my factory manual, called Fiat 125/125 Special Shop Manual, so if there are any problems or questions you may need help with, especially relating to the layout or routing or wiring of anything just ask.

Someone commented on the gearbox being a 4 or 5 speed. The 125S had a 5 speed.

Yes there is a K&N filter that is available. I also have a copy of the workshop manual.

I used the wiring diagram to do my wiring, but difficult with the Italian color codes.

From my knowledge the 125 has a four speed box and 125s/125 special has a five speed box.

Luck me, was able to get my hands on a 131 2000 box. Had to cut the tunnel because gear lever position moved forward
and had to shorten the prop shaft.

Hi guys,

Can someone tell me what flywheel this is. It weighs around 14 pounds. I would like to know if its a stock item or if it has been lightened.
Can I use this flywheel on my stock 2L engine as is?

Does that flywheel have 12 mm bolt holes (pretty hard to see in picture)?

If it has, it has definately been lightened. 2 litre stock flywheel weighs about 18 lbs or 8.2 kilograms. And it definately looks like it has been lightened. Radius on the outer edge seems to be pretty good, but I don't like that almost 90 degree bend in inner region. More wiser guys can give more detailed information.

Yes it has 12mm bolts. So if it has been lightened, can i balanace it and put it on? Some say it needs to be balanced with
the crankshaft, but that means stripping the engine.

I don't like that FW at all. See photos below.

They are prone to fracture when machined like that!

An old FW should be crack-tested and checked for 0.020" step height between friction face and clutch mounting diameter and checked for runout between friction face region and crank mounting flange (which should be no more than 0.004" at extreme diameter). if the friction face is badly worn or has heat-cracking it should be reground and the step remachined nice and true. Then it mUST be balanced with crank.

Given the state of yours I recommend you try and find another.
