Guy,

I'm looking for a head to rebuild and I've found one for sale.
One of the cams currently fitted has the following number on the end A44/4/377/M. The head is described as suitable for a 131, however it has Lancia cam boxes fitted and the distributor drive is to the top rear of the inlet cam.

I'm not concerned about the distributor as I'll not be needing to use it as I have an Omex unit fitted.
The head is on a well known auction site, if you want to go and have a look.

What I'm asking is:
1) Are the cams identifiable from those series of numbers above?
2) What engine is the head likely to have come from with the distributor drive being in the position it is?

The cams are Alquati steel billet and I can ID the type if you buy. Sounds as if it was rigged for a Lancia Montecarlo.

If its from a Monte, would it go onto a Strada Abarth Block?
Im asking the seller to split the carbs from the head and sell them seperatly so as to make the head more affordable for something to rebuild.
If i buy you will know because im going to need some parts im sure.

I know the one you mean, and yes it is from a Montecarlo. It should be suitable for any 2litre TC with suitable cam-boxes fitted.
I actually made the bloke an offer for the head and cams alone provided I could go and inspect them first, but he declined. If it is a GC head then it should be stamped on the end of the head casting GC###, if not then it isn't. Might be worth asking him the question. Was it just the head you were after? Or do you intend to use the cams? If not then I'm sure I could find a good home for them, in my Monte.

Im looking for a head to rebuild whilst leaving the existing head on my car.
I would probably be breaking the head down and replacing the cams any way.
i dont need the carbs and could probably let the cams go as well.
I need someone to buy the carbs, strange that the seller wont allow a visual of the head makes me very suspiscious. At that price it demands a guarantee its a GC head.

I do actually have a head for sale in the sales thread. It can be dressed with anything you want. Make me an offer if you don't like the price.
