Hi Guy,

My friend is building a Fiat 2000TC engine with supercharger. The engine will be used in Fiat 131 Rally replica and it's specification is following:

- 130TC head with standard valves,
- 130TC camshafts,
- CR 7.8:1
- compressor from VW 1.4 ltr. 170HP engine,
- Kugelfischer mechanical injection.

What kind of exhaust system would you recommend for this engine? Should we use similar design as for naturally aspirated rally engine or due to the mild cams can we use more simple (shorter primary and secondary pipes, not equally matched lengths) exhaust header?

4-1, 36" primary length, 1.5" bore or fractionally bigger,

Thanks Guy!

Does it mean, that for some reason 4-1 setup is better than 4-2-1 in supercharged engine?

Far too much risk of intereference between cylinders with a 4-2-1. It can be done of course but you'd have to expend a lot ot dyno time trying to perfect it and run the risk of damaging the rings even as you do it. You can be lucky and get the configuration right but it will be good luck and no more than that.

So in short - no, I don't advise anything but a 4-1.
