valve timing on Alfa romeo engine
Hello
At the moment I help a friend to rebuild his Alfa romeo Giulia 1600 GT Veloce.
The car is 95% finished and the only think we have to do now , is to finish the engine.
The reason I need your experience and suggestions is because we got a couple of camshafts without any tech. data. We have have no value, no identification mark on it ...Nothing
In order to adjust them correctly ,I took measurements of the lift and the curve.
see picture:
Do you have any idea how to identify origin , or how to adjust them ?
Regards
Philippe

Re: valve timing on Alfa romeo engine
Thanks -they're obviously billets not regrinds and steel by the look of it, set the valve clearances cold at 0.4mm in and 0.50mm ex, (+/- 0.05mm) set full lift at 110 deg ATDC inlet and 110deg BTDC exhaust.
You could go to 108 deg FL or lower but watch the valve to piston proximity. Read carefully the attached GC 'How to' before you start!

hello ...
after few weeks , finally, I finish this Giulia
I follow your instructions and results are very good ! Engine is running very well ... it seems i have better torque at middle RPM than before ( I mean , before I dismount the car to rebuilt it)
thanks again for your help !!
Now, I can spend all my time on my Fiat coupé 1300 cm³ prepared for french historical hillclimb championship

Nice car!
and interesting position of brake booster - can you take more photos of that- and its linkage? I am very interested in that (I am designer of ATE brake boosters:))

Hi
I don't understand your question about brake booster position ? this part is at its "normal" place ?
Anyway, if you need pictures ( I have just a few) , I think it's better ton contact me through MP message in order to not disturb this forum
