help needed, Fiat TC head - casting no 7708833

Hi,

I have one cylinder head that seems quite similar to the ones used in Lancia Delta integrale 2.0 16v turbo.
The head is pretty much the same, except the missing distributor cap (it comes with some kind of sensor, instead of distributor attachment).
The number in the casting is 7708833, head appearance is same, I measured exhaust/intake valve diameters and intake cam lift and it is the same as integrale 2.0 16v turbo...
Can anyone suggest if I can use this c.head as replacement in that particular engine?

Thank you,

Dejan

Ok, after some investigation, this seems to be Lancia Thema TC head but still not 100% sure...
Exhaust/intake ports seem the same as delta 16v turbo when compared side by side, valve diameters are the same, cam lift is the same...
Anyone has any idea of some not so obvious differences to delta 16v turbo? Inner port size/shape? It has different part number after all.

Thanks

No idea really but some photos would help, as ever,

Dejan,

This is a pic of my '91Thema Turbo head... how does it compare?

Where the 16v Fiat Lancia valve sizes are nominally 34/28 (plus a bit .. I know) you can assume that the heads are identical to all intents and purposes.

What I am saying is for tuning purposes you can assume 16v Tipo 1800/2 liter and 16v Integrale, Thema et alia are all the same head with identical ports and cc layouts. I have worked on all of those.

I am 99% sure I am right in this regard - if anyone has has knowledge of unique differences do let us know.

The only oddity - which has been discussed on this site is the rather peculiar Thema 16v with smaller inlet valves than exhaust.

Thanks Guy and Rik... I finally got over to garage with my camera and took some photos Today - I hope this helps.

The most obvious difference is the addition of sensor on intake cam and missing distributor interface/attachment on exhaust cam - I can't really remember what this area looked like on my 16v delta head the last time I had engine out of the car...

Basically, in order to use this head in 16v Delta integrale, I would need to add distributor to exhaust cam side, and remove/block off sensor on the intake cam.
What worries me is that this head may have some differences that I have failed to see, apart from the obvious I have mentioned above...
Last three photos show side opposite to cambelt pulleys.

The things you refer to - cam drives and distr etc - they are ancillary items. The head itself is perfectly suitable.

Just sort out the ancillary things and it will be fine.
