Where can I get Fiat TC bits? (rad hose and other things...)

Hi,

I have what I believe is a 1600 Fiat 124 spider engine in my kit car. What is the parts availability like for these?

Specifically, I want to gte a radiator top hose, like the one shown in the attached pic.

I also need a throttle cable, but the car is running twin 40 DHLA's and I presume this wasn't the production setup for the Fiat? (ie I can't get the cables off the shelf)

I may need various electrical components like points sets and a coil too and doubtlessly many other things as the need presents itself!

Can anyone recommend a good source?

Thanks

Chris.

More often than not you can get these kind of things without buying from 'marque specialists'. As for me, I don't trade in them myself because the list of parts is too big and I don't 'dress' engines anymore.

Eg: Throttle cable Northampton Motorsport - see my links section (members here).

Hoses probably still listed by Gates (well-known mfr) and available from clued-up motor accessory shops (perhaps Halfords).

Distributor parts, made by Intermotor and Unipart, same applies. Partco are often a good source, all depends on the willingness of the staff to help. Here in Lincoln I find Allwoods excellent. Time to consult the Yellow Pages and make some phone calls.

If anyone can recommend a good local firm, post here /and or in links.

Thanks Guy.

I don't suppose you (or anyone else) can confirm if the photo looks fairly simialr to the Fiat installation? I presume the plumbing is the same, but obviously I only want a Fiat 124 hose if it does indeed still use one.

It's not OE, but that doesn't matter because it looks like Gates 'Vulcoflex' hose - wire-reinforced so you can bend it to fit many setups and with pre-formed parallel ends so the clip sits right. I have used it a lot in racecars. new stainless clips (esp Jubilee - UK made, not Taiwan..!) are a must, that hose needs a fair bit of clamping. And make sure you clean off the calcium deposits on the pump or it will drip all the time.

Again, a Gates Hose stockist can supply readily. Beware of er, 'imitations' that look like Gates but are not. They are notoriously weak.
I just did a quick search and found a UK firm with very helpful, good pictures, published prices etc. See:

If you contact them and they are helpful they might like to have a link published in the appropriate section.
