OK - it doesn't matter really whether you put the sensor in the sump or on the oil filter housing in that case, because since there is no external cooler, both locations will read more-or-less the same.

Agreed. I would look at an oil filter sandwich plate to aid easy fitment. Rather than dropping the sump and getting a fitting brazed in there. Or alternatively, see if you can source a sump plug with a hole for the sensor. Depends how big the sump plug is though on that one. Sandwich plate will just be a case of matching on Filter thread size, and filter diameter.

Thanks guys, I look into taking it from the oil filter housing I think. I have seen the "drill and tap the sump plug" method and wondered how many people knock the sending unit off on a pot hole, speed bump or small fury animal.

haha, thats always a concern round my way. Speed bumps that is rather than small fury animals.
