So whats the deal with the syringe? Place on bleed nipple, open, and pull?

Think maybe I'll give this a go when I get the car back cos I have all new brakes to go on, and bleeding is always a pain!
What size did you get, and how much do you normally need to draw out??

I found a kit on an auction site and you get 2 sizes of syrine, I used the largest of ther 2. One thing I found was they provide a plastic tube which is very hard to attach to the nipples or syringe. I replaced with is with much softer rubber I took from my washer bottle, and it goes over the ends much easier now.
You'd take out the same liquid as before, depending if you are draining the system or not. It's a good idea to replace you brake fluid as it does gather moisture (from what I read).

yes I'm planning on a full bleed of the system when I change all the discs and pads.

Well the big news is that 7 months after taking it off the road for further work IT NOW RUNS The DTA ECU is in, professionally made loom and my mini fuse board. I must say it was well handy having an AFR display in there to get the idle running sweet to minimise the risk of overfueling etc before the mapping starts. I needed it running because the exhaust manifold is going on before hand.
The pressure was on because it's being mapped in 1.5 weeks time and I had the dredded thought I wouldn't be able to get it going on my own.
To celebrate the landmark, I put the recently cleaned and sealed rims back on, don't they look clean!
Here's a pic of the catch tank with oiled K&N breather filters:

I have lots of little finishing jobs todo now, like tidy up the wiring etc.

Its great when it bursts into life especially with little drama. I was very chuffed and well relieved when mine started a couple of months ago.

I know what you mean. I sometimes watch the video of the first time I started the car. ahhh... special day that was. Ran it for 20 mins then went straight to the pub! haha!
One thing I'm concerned about where mine has taken so long, is the period of time its been sat without running, and the kind of performance I'm asking from it.

Well this is the final week before the car goes off to get mapped and tweaked.
The cars runs well on a base map provided by Sandy, a few of the auxiliary items like fan switch and warning lights have yet to be completed.
All the jobs are now finishing items, and boy do they take time!
Here are some pics of the new DTA ecu loom installed, i was looking to get it as safe and tidt as possible. I first tried securing the loom to the bodywork using cable tie mounts, but they didn’t stick that well. So I moved to Eyelet ties as there are some unusased threads available just in the right places. I managed to thread the loom through the gap on the inner wing so there's no chance of the engine moving close to the loom.

Well folks, i'm 99% finished. I had a good today, a major milestone in finishing off the wiring, here are some updates in pictures....
First up is the catch cank and wiring tidy...

To this: Here is the wiring reduction (when I started last november) and plumbing in the new ECU:

You can see the ecu board is away from the firewall using rubber legs to minimise any potential vibration damage:
I also made up the brackets for the washer bottle relocation:

As someone ordered rain for tomorrow, I went out after dinner for another shift.
I worked on the heat shield, as the air filter is almost directly above the radiator and oil cooler.
As recommended, rather than going for stainless steel, I bought some specialist heat shield material. I was surprised how soft it was, and how easy to bend by hand.
Here is the implementation I think will work well. This will give good air feed into the engine bay, to keep the head cool etc. It also gives the most room around the filter, being as far away from it as possible. Also, by extending as far forward as possible, it will also help the air stream.
View from the rear:
It extends out until it meets the bumper. Originally I thought I would screw it flush to the bumper. Then I realised that the engine moves, so the heat shield being attached to the air box will also move. So I will probably tuck it under the bumper so it can move, and also provide the same air stream effect

More progress today.
The last of the big jobs was finishing off and plumbing in the outer injector fuel lines.
This was a massive hassle, as the fuel lines had to be attached in the restrictive area of the airbox, then the trumpets had to be bolted on, and I can tell you it's very difficult to get access to the bottom nuts when you have the injectors in the way and not a lot of room anyway.
Here is a picture of the outer injectors setup complete:
Ah! finally the cover goes on the airbox: You can also see the heat shield bolted in place, and tucked under the front bumper.
I received my new cooler (9 ) plugs today, here are the old ones. Slightly worrying that there is so much oil residue present.
A nice touch i've been planning for ages was to be able to bolt the fuel lines to the thermostat cover:
All the remaining jobs are mainly cosmetic. It goes for mapping on Friday afternoon.
