Hi, difficult to shift gear under track conditions!

Post by torkil »

Hi on my trackday yesterday i had a little problem ,espessely whenn i rew out 2nd and change over to 3 rd ,it feels like the clutch want free out ,and i have to force the lever slowly over,to 3rd

Whenn i use the car in normal road conditions there is no problem ,
There is no air in the hydralic clutch system ,
My thinking about this problem is!
1 clutchplate has problem to free under high revs, Perhaps related to viberations!

The gearbox in my X 1/9 is a standard Strada 130 ZF type,
Any hints Reg Ove Thorkildsen Norway

maybe the clutch is over-stroking - pushing too far

Hi Ove,
is that a stock Strada 130TC ZF synchronized gearbox?

Is it hard to get out from the 2nd gear?

Hi,
can you post a picture with the linkage up to the gearbox?

For me it looks like some kind of a gearshifter/linkage issue rather than anything else, but hard to say just looking at the video.

There is no linkages in this system at all this is fitted just like a frontwheel driven car F instance Uno Turbo , But this package is fittet at rear , so there is only the original X1/9 rod who travels to the rear end off the car an under gearbox bolted diretly to the gear gearchange rod without any rubber , Wery accurate shift , whenn not getting hard to shift ,
Motor monts are wery stable and dont flex mutch, OVE

Hi Ove, I have had this problem with transmissions that were not serviced often. The cure is to drain out the gear oil and refill with ATF and run it for approx. 1500 km to clean out the sludge. Then refill with what is called for by the manufacture.

hmmm - I am not sure this is the problem in this case. The 130 TC box has some "delay" and sensitivity regarding the 2nd gear I have noticed, although not the way Ove is describing. I certainly do not expect old oil to be the problem in this case.
