Finding age of engine
Is there any way of identifying the age (year of production) of a Fiat twin-cam engine?

Yes thats right,If you get a copy of Guy's first book theres some very comprehensive tables showing which numbers came from which cars and when they were produced.so simply find your engine number and compare against the data.
On the two engines I have the numbers are in different places on the block. On the earlier engine it is just above the oil filter housing and the later on its a flat just next to the left hand engine mount, not sure if they're all like that but its a good place to start cleaning rust from.

It's an (as far as I know) standard 2-litre from a 131/Mirafiori.
Engine numbers are:
132DB2A0
131 24 000
1495214
Cylinder head:
5991740

First produced 1972 ended 1985. The 2 liter 132DB coded crankcase was variously used in the RWD Fiat 132, 131, Argenta and 124 Spider models all with the same cylinder head, cams.
