Re: Fiat Strada 130TC Rally prep.
Great work, can i ask please, if the Regata rack is the same ratio as 130tc rack or did you replace the internals to make it a quick rack?
Also I dont understand why you would want to limited the travel of the rack. . .
Thanks and i look forward to seeing it progress.

Re: Fiat Strada 130TC Rally prep.
Hi Mitch,
yes indeed, the 130TC is beginning to be rare and especially those in good condition. Here, in the small country, there is a half dozen running 130TC.
It is a pleasure to answer your question, Mitch.
As perhaps you already know the rack gear ratio of the 130TC is 4:1. The Regata who is assisted, have a rack gear ratio of 3,4:1.
Mine is still closer to 30% ie 2,38:1
Indeed, the internals has been replaced.
I had to limit the travel of the rack due to the large wheels. When I post the other pictures, you will understand why I had to limit the travel.
More pics to follow as soon as possible.
Regards
Daniel

Re: Fiat Strada 130TC Rally prep.
I did not know the Regata rack was a different ratio - thanks for the info.
Yes the 130tc is a rare car now - your strengthening is very worthwhile from a safety point of view and to increase torsional rigidity - which standard Stradas / most monocoque production cars lack.

Re: Fiat Strada 130TC Rally prep.
I just want to comment on previous pictures, the engine mounts have been changed to four good reason.
1. make the powertrain more stiffer
2. lifting Powertrain 15mm in order to do well work the drive shaft (was limit)
3. allow me to place a protection under the car easily and higher (especially for rally)
4. remove the torque brace screwed to the cylinder head (which can burn the head gasket, said as Guy)
One drawback, the raised center of gravity,
4 cons 1 I think its worth it.
Mitch, regarding the rigidity of the Stradas it was no good at all. I checked mine before I started, and found cracks in the front.

Re: Fiat Strada 130TC Rally prep.
What suspension are you using - coilovers all round - lose the rear leaf spring?
What will be the spec of the engine when car is finished?
Are you aiming for a final weight of the car once built - and are you using any composite panels / windows to reduce weight?
Thanks.

Daniel - with your excellent photo & mechanical skills - a possible book here?
This is not the first time I have said this - I recently remarked same on a 124 'resto'.
Miro knows an excellent printer, Natasha has her own publishing business 'Discern Publications' - effective and very low cost.
There is a terrible shortage of decent tech books on Fiats (that tell you anything remotely useful anyway).

Re: Fiat Strada 130TC Rally prep.
Hi Mitch,
Yes, I use springs all around. The suspensions are Proflex, made to measure.
The engine has already passed the dyno for mapping with 45mm throttel bodies. Two weeks ago I started the engine for the first time, it runs very well.
If my calculations are correct I think the car will weigh 1 ton when finished.
No, I do not use composite component right now, just the front door panels, perhaps carbon.
Regards

Here are a couple of pictures,
Perhaps the last picture gives Mitch the answer, to her question; why i limit the travel of the rack!

I do not think to be able to that sort of thing. Know that, before I post anything I need hours to prepare everything. (Write a readable text with the least possible fault and find the right expression). I use the translator to always be sure to make the fewest mistakes possible. My English is very bad, but it gradually increases.
Where to find the time for all this?
Guy, you are amazing, how do you manage it all. Writing books, manage the site's forum, answering questions asked, given the most detailed explanations, manage the business, and another for sure.
I am very pleased to be part of your site, Guy. This is the only site where I post pictures of my project.
thank you very much
Sincerely
Daniel

Hi Daniel
very nice car you build there!
I like your attention to details on all the chassis stiffening & bracing and parts manufacturing.
Why did you choose the electric driven servo pump for the steering?

Re: Fiat Strada 130TC Rally prep.
Hi Thomas,
I chose the electric pump because it is much easier to adapt. I like the combination electric motor, pump, tank. The alternator should be of good quality and performance, to ensure proper operation. There has never been Strada 130TC with power steering. The Strada GR.A been equipped hydraulic pump coupled to the engine, but too complicated for me!

Re: Fiat Strada 130TC Rally prep.
Did you put the catalytic converter last? If so, it probably won't work, it needs heat from the exhaust to get to working temperature.
