Thanks, i was able to be 4th in overall classification, for the moment i cannot beat three cars, Impreza with about 350HP , Evo X and BMW e36 M3, i loose at least 10s on each run which still can be gained somewhere(need to brake later and have a bit more courage in curves as there is plenty of grip- much more then i dare to check). For sure Honda f20C engine prepared by you would help as this engine is standard unit. I am also thinking of sequential gearbox or at least some 6 speed dog clutch box as i loose a lot on gearchanges.
Miro, maybe you want to start in Kryterium Kamionki, the event is on 5th and 27th of June, Now the tarmac is very smooth and it is more of a kind of hillclimb then rally stage. the course is quite steep all the way so it is rather safe to drive there.

As for the throttle and brake strips here is how i get the data:
throttle - i take TPS value directly from the sensor
brake - this is just G force taken from the accelerometer so this varies with speed, i should have a brake pressure sensor to read actual braking force.

Tomek,

You are right , I am making 109 km/h on second @ 8000 RPM on the 3,9 ratio . with 6.14 I am making 104 at 8000 RPM on third

Guy ,

Yes you mean the Helix 179lbf ft clutch wore out after one 300 km up-hill rally on!

The the cable was NOT too tight , I checked it just before it was taken off.

The cover plates betw eng and gearbox are NOT missing

I have not witnessed gearbox installation procedure this time but I have seen it done by the same guy before and know the gearbox assembly is properly supported during installation.

I am surprised as well , but this is not the first time I wore a clutch during one hp hill rally event. On old engine (120 HP + and 185 Nm torque) a standard 131 clutch would start slipping after one rally event or 2-3 track-days. Than I started using Sachs strengthened clutch. It would typically last me a whole season.

I am very interested in finding out the cause of this , as well.

I will post detailed pictures of the damaged clutch next week as I pick it up from the mechanics'.

No , No Guy this is only for the show !

I will send you the plate and the disk ...

Miroslaw

PS: Is there a clutch strong enough for a GC engine with all its power and torque ! (LOL)

Do they make clutches in aviation specs ?

I will need serious advise on the clutch selection ... the one I put after Helix got used up was ground to pieces and flew out making a hole in the bell - no other visible damage - the pressure plate seems OK but I have depressed the clutch and killed the engine immediately (and haven't started it since) so until we take the gearbox and the clutch assembly off we will not not know the details of what was too weak and what internal damage might have been caused (if any) to the clutch pressure plate, gearbox etc. The pedal seems normal and gear shift normally so chances are all that was damaged was the clutch disk.

We will disassemble it in few days and I will post the pictures of the pressure plate and whatever elements of the clutch disk that remains still on the car. In the mean time - here are some pictures of the pieces that flew out of the bell making a hole the size of king size cigarette pack and were later found on the track .

PS PS: this happened on the 5th stage , just as I was about to pass the finish line . I was shifting into 4-th gear at just under 8000 RPM. On the 3rd gear the 8000 RPM is ca. 104 km/h)

Guy ,

The engine on this first full power run performed MAGNIFICENTLY, BY FAR EXCEEDING MY WILDEST DREAMS.

THE ENGINE PULLS WITH FULL FORCE FROM 3500 RPM WITH PRACTICALLY FULL TORQUE. REVS UP VERY QUICKLY AND SEEMS TO HAVE ENDLESS POWER RESERVE !!!

REAL WILD BEAST !!!!

DESPITE VERY HARD DRIVING IN 40C DEG WEATHER , VERY HARD AND FREQUENT BRAKING AND VERY SHARP LONG TURNS THE COOLANT TEMPERATURE DID N0T EXCEED 90 C DEG AND OIL 100C DEG on my VDO electronic gauges which is translates into 85 C coolant and 90 C oil in real terms ( these electronic gauges are not known for scientific accuracy - 10% deviation is a good standard for them. I have two oil pressure gauges which show as mach as 20% deviation between themselves.

Oil pressure equalized nicely between the accumulator and the crankcase. ( Motul 20W60)

Thank you Guy,

Your engine is worth a quid for every penny I spent on it !

Honest as ever Miro but 85 deg C coolant is 10deg too hot.

Much in the same way as, say, 95 deg C is 20 deg too hot and 105 deg 30 deg too hot and 85 is nearly 90 etc etc..*

Get it down. It matters.

If you follow my meaning...

G

* I stress this since I am forever writing data shts that state clearly the GC recommended engine temp UNDER ALL CONDITIONS is 75 deg C yet folk still insist that, 'it's 85 but that should be OK shouldn't it??'

Guy, thanks!

I take it very seriously !

Now, you tell me what to do to reduce it by 10 deg C.

1/ Thermostat rating you installed has not been changes so it has proper rating is , or maybe we should install a lower rated ?

2/ Change radiator to aluminum type with same capacity but a bigger flow?

3/ Change the fan switch to lower rating (I have now 68-82 deg C)

4/ Change to more efficient fan ?

Note I know that items 2-4 are just cures for symptoms not for causes

Putting full engine bay bottom cover , should Induce better air flow but will this do anything to reduce working coolant temp ?

Any other suggestions ?

Miro

PS with as much as 110 deg C coolant temp with oil temp as high as 130 deg C on the previous engine I thought ( apparently incorrectly) that 85 is fine. Now I do not ... but need your advice.

Does that clutch slip during the run? I just watched on a laptop and my hearing is terrible, but it sounds like I hear some slipping in places where I wouldn't let it slip myself?
