Crank Pulley bolt L/H or R/H thread?

Post by parrish »

Hi Guy,
im starting to fit an Omex 600 ECU and EFI to my engine,
one of the first job's is to remove the front pulley bolt so as to arrange fixing of the trigger wheel.
The engine is from a Strada Abarth.
The bolt, and it is definetly a bolt has the following numbers and letters on the head.
Large capital 'L' in the centre.
'5BE' ? and '10R' around the edge.
'138 AR1 Fiat Lancia' is cast on to the side of the block.
Do you know if the front pulley bolt is likely to be a normal thread or opposite thread.
It wont budge currently in either direction and before i apply more force i need to know which way to turn!
Regards
Steve

It's a LH (reverse) thread, turn clockwise to undo.

You will probably need to use a compressed-air driven or high torque battery impact wrench with (black) 1/2" drive impact socket to get it off.

Thanks Guy,
finally found time to have another go today, came off reasonably easy L/H just as you said.
Just offered a trigger wheel up so as to make a distance piece.
