CR for Rebuild

Post by t00nces »

Greetings,

I'm in the process of rebuilding a '81 Fiat 2000 FI and I plan on putting an 1800 port/polished head w/stock cams on the original bottom end. I'm new to the rebuild process and my reading so far suggests that I need to take into account total compression when determining what piston CR I should choose. So, with the 1800 head as noted above, what is my upper CR limit for the pistons and the engine overall? Forged over cast pistons - correct?

Any advice greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.

Regards,

t.

Hi,

Everything that you need including a CR calculator you have here:

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2883

and here

viewtopic.php?t=129

With 1800 cast pistons in 2000 you will get about 9,6:1 CR, good for mild tuned 2L TC with stock cams.

About all of rebuilding process, I really advice 2013 GC book, everything is there, step by step with a lot of photos.

Sincerely
Piotrek.

Could you give me some details about your TC head ? What have you done with ports, valves, guides, seats etc. ?
