Power potential: Fiat 2.0 16V vs. 20V?

Post by 127 »

Hi and merry christmas to all

Due to parts-shortage for my lovely Fiat 127 abarth, I'm looking for a Fiat for rallying.
I have pretty much narowed it down to a Bravo 2.0 20V, a Coupe 2.0 16V or a Coupe 2.0 20V

I need some advice regarding the potential of these engines. They will be running non-turbo with throttle bodies for each cylinder and megasquirt for engine management.

Any insight and experience will be appreciated.

Coupe/Tipo 16v type every time, you can't get hardly any parts for the 20v.

Brian,

What parts do you need for your Fiat 127 abarth?

@Guy: Thank you. What kind of power have you been able to get from these engines? I am hoping for 200-220, more it it can be done without sacrificing durability.

@Miro: Mainly I'm looking for "expendables" like doors, windows, bonnet, tailgate, lights (front and rear). Most of the mechanicals I can make myself or replacements are already in my stock.

The power figures you cite are well within your grasp, but I not saying it's cheap to do, it ain't.

Why not take a look at the 1600 16v conversion as shown in 'Results & Feedback' in the GC V/W? If you multiply the power from that unit by 2/1.6 you'll get some idea of what the 2 liter is really capable of. That said, the power and torque from the 2 liter will 'shred' all but the most expertly prepped car.

Brian,

I need detail specs of your car version(trim) as well as year. Picture would be very helpful.

127 p was produced in Poland and the expendables while not plentiful should be still available here. If not I have plenty of contacts in former socialist block countries and will should be able to get them.

Please contact me at my email.
