LSD - Copia Frenata or Duo Block

Post by miro-1980 »

Guys,

Anybody know the difference between Copia frenata and Duo Block.

What are the practical driving characteristics of each ?

I used both differentials in my car and copa frenata is more suitable for road cars as it will not give so much noise while making tight turns and duo-block can give some horrible noises when working. Dou-block is more bullet proof construction that does not have any gears inside and allows driving the car when one of the axles brakes(i had it once) but it will still slip a bit so less throttle needs to be used to continue driving.
In both differentials you can set up the locking by using different rate springs.
For rallies i would use duo-block.
Both diffs have less locking ratio than diffs with variable locking rate(depends on ramp angles) that are made for motorsport and this kind of diff is the best in my opinion(i used such differential few years ago).
