Abarth Novamotor

Post by Honza »

Does anybody know more info about this engine? (stroke , bore , CR , camshafts... ,engine ID , car where this engine was used etc..)
I ´ve found only few photos and that it was used in Dallara F3 monoposts - thats all what I´ve found yet...

I can see that this engine has different type of head than production 16v engine but engine block seems that could be the same with small modifications..

and the reason why I am asking - one man who is a sucesfull hillclimb racer in Czech Republic bought F3 dallara with this engine and he contact me whether I know more info about that engine..

Anyone who responds please note, that unless you own pictures of a Novamotor engine, you must seek permission of the owner before publishing here and I must have sight of that permission first.

The F3 engine clearly isn't a production Tipo block although in the Fiat Forza magazine it was portrayed on the F3 car as the tipo 16v engine. The single cam pulley looks to be the same as on the Alfa romeo 155 D2 unit, and I'm unsure whether that maybe a an Alfa production part on the cam drive side. Perhaps an email to novamotor (if can find an address) could yeild details on this older unit.

Does anyone know if Novamotor are actually still going?

I applied to be their agent years ago (in the 90s) but they were set on Holbay, dunno if that went forward or not..

Hi everybody. That Fiat Abarth Novamotor 2.0 16V engine is in my formula.
That engine has around 220hp / 6000rpm with resctrictor 26mm.

I am going to race my Dallara in hillclimbing where I dont need that resctrictor. So what everything I have to change when I remove restrictor? I think that only valve springs and than retune engine on dyno. What you think?

And this is my homepage where you can find pics of my other race car Suzuki Swift Kic car, onboards from racing, and also my another car Toyota MR2 BEAMS VVTi

Excellent, many thanks. Do you have any internal pictures, or could you take some of the cam drive end and dry sump pump? Must be fantastic to drive that F3 car.

Pics of engine. As you can see, engine has only one cam wheel in the middle of head. The code of head is 7669070E.
