Marek, are you checked why your engine have less power than GC declared ? He talked about 165bhp and 148 lbf ft.

Are you check your ignition timing, do you done it with GC regime ?

What's about your carbs setups, could you share it with us ?

How much kilometers did you made after first start up of your GC engine ?

There may be some issues with the tuning, I was not there I do not know.

I don't always get my estimates right...

My first thought was also some issues with tuning. I know that incorrect ignition timing, carbs set-up etc. could be a reason of less power. Let's wait for Marek answer about tuning, I am very interested about it.

Hi Piotrek,

Just like my engine, Marek's not a very high state of tune (by GC standards anyway!), more like 'fast road'. It has standard 36/42 valves, HC pistons, standard exhaust cam' and 3A inlet cam'. Marek's engine gives very similar power to mine except for IDF carbs which would explain the slightly higher power Marek has. And Guy warned me IDF's May not give much more outright power, although like I said before, the engine would probably be more responsive than mine on it's 32/36 Weber.

To be fair to Guy, he'd not done this configuration before so it was an educated gusss for him. And besides, the way the engine delivers the power is fantastic and very usable. I'm sure Marek will be very pleased when he drives it more next year.

I chose my configuration because I it has great road manners rather than 'race' power. Plus to be honest, my budget wouldn't stretch any further! But Marek and I discussed the configuration and as his is just for road use too he chose to copy my set-up.

However, because of all the quality mods (race conrods and pistons etc.) it is a great basis for further changes as funds and preferences change. Like I said in my previous post, I'm now looking to have a 'warmer' exhaust cam' just to give a bit more 'zing' and hopefully I won't lose too much low down torque.

If Marek went to a quality rolling road then surely the timing is correct?

Piotrek,
My assumption was to have an engine with power 130bhp.
Excuse me, but I'm not the engine tuning specialist , so it is hard for me to to answer your questions...
Current settings of engine aren't set up for reaching maximum power.
Unfortunately I can't say 'trust me I am a doctor' in this field

acceleration and speed need torque.

Look at the lovely torque curve.
