My Fiat 124 Spider Vintage Racer

Post by Andre124 »

Just something I picked up in June.

Former track day car that is being spec'd for vintage racing in Canada.

Currently adjusting the roll bar to meet the rule requirements. Needed to add new plates.
Long term will see a full cage.
Fuel cell will be ordered soon as well.

Its been an interesting few months for the Fiat.

A fellow Fiat racer showed up at my door step with a present.

A little video with the new carb setup.

Right now I'm in the middle of all sorts of race spec upgrades.

Majority of them are safety related.
Initially I had figured the AutoPower roll bar would be suitable to race with, but after trying to setup my seat the roll bar clearly was interfering with my seating position and also left me very exposed. My shoulder was outside of the main loop.

So I cut it out.

In hindset it might have been better to find a more sorted out race car, but by doing the cage and seating stuff I am ensuring its setup for my needs.

The new cage will be setup with gussets for extra protection and the driver side will have nascar bars to provide me with some crush zone area between myself and the door.

Few last shots from the Frozen Chosen. It was -25C. Have to roll the car out to do the bending.

A few modern updates for 2013.

Over the winter I rebuilt the bottom end after the #4 con rod bearing spun and got well eaten alive.

In June we returned to Mosport and had a really productive race weekend.
