1970 Fiat 124 Special

Post by mack124 »

Hi Everyone,

It’s been quite a while since I posted on this forum so I thought I’d give you an update.

My 124 CC has been put on hold for a few months while I got my son’s car road worthy.

It started as a 1970 124 Special but by the time we got it, it was a pile of rust and body putty the exact same shape as a 1970 124 Special. There was considerable heartbreak when we discovered the extent of the rust.

The Engine is an OHV 1585 unit from a 131 Supermirafiori…Australian spec. It has had a full rebuild to standard specs apart from the ports have been worked on and the carburetor is of a 124 CC. We didn’t go for a twin cam engine because we wanted to keep it close to original and we were working to a tight budget.

The car is now on the road but still has a bit of work to be done on it to get it just right.

Bye for now.

Gill

Great to see a pushrod being featured and I must add I do like pictures in this section with 'real people' in them!

Great work Gill and Charlie. It was great to see this thing in the flesh at the recent Fiat Nationals.
Very cool little car.
