1608 131 Auto hesitation

Post by mack124 »

Hi all

My brother has a 1608 124 sport engine in his 131 panorama Auto (I know it's a bit of an odd setup)

The problem is that it has a hesitation as you accelerate slightly. It has the standard twin idf carbs with the standard jetting.

Tha motor has just been rebuilt and needs a bit more running in. It has been a very long time since I've tried to set up these carbs and the old memory isn't that good.

Anyone got any ideas?

I'm only new to this forum and I think it is absolutely fantastic

Hi Gill

may I suggest that first you try a search on this site using search by IDF, if you have a good read, maybe print off, you should find fault-finding and tuning in there, if not let us know and I'll help direct.

Hi there!
I had to join, I'm the owner if the 131 auto.
It seems to be a progression off idle jet thing and it also seems to be altitude related, I live at around 1000 meters above sea level. going to a lower altitude seems to help the problem and colder air seems to help too.
as a foot note the idle mix screws are less than half a turn out for best idle and the car requires little choke when cold.
could this car be running too rich in the idle circuit or main jets?

P.S Is there anyone else out there with multi carb autos?

Eden. (Gills brother)
