Flywheel lightening

Post by CountVonZanzibar »

Hi Guy and all!

Heres my first question for the forum: I'm hoping to start the engine rebuild soon and was wondering if theres any weight that can be lightened from the standard flywheel on my Fiat SOHC (1300) without effecting tractability?

My goal with this engine is to keep it fairly standard, but do a few logical upgrades (Lighten, balance, slightly bigger pistons, fast road cam and port the head) so thats why I'm thinking of lightening the flywheel, but I'm conscious of the fact that too light will make the car a pig to drive so is there a magic number that will give worthwhile results or am I just wasting my time?

As always all info will be gratefully received.

Regards
Craig.
