dished clutch cover plate

Post by Vtechnician »

Hi All,

Im in the process of upgrading my clutch kit. A little history: About 2 years ago I bought a clutch kit from a company called CG Motorsport who supplied me with a standard drive plate and an uprated cover plate. They basically take a standard cover plate (in this case a Valeo unit) and rebuild it with more clamping force.

The same company offer a rebuild service and can convert a standard drive plate to a paddle type. Which is what they did for me.

Im planning on reusing the cover plate and whilst I was inspecting it I noticed that it wasn't straight. It looks slightly conical or dished. See below:

There is no sign of wear and it appears that it was designed this way. What would be the reason for this? Im concerned it will not sit flush with the drive plate. I guess eventually it will wear in.

My apologies Guy. Ive re-read the protocols and this wont happen again.

Ive been in touch with the vendor who explained the "Dishing" is caused by over heating.
