Combustion chamber damage

Today i was given a head to clean up and assemble for a friends fast road project.
Upon closer inspection i found that one of the combustion chambers had some damage.
Not sure if something fell into the chamber or if it was roughly handled prior to its last fitting. Doesnt look like detonation.
I was thinking of smoothing the rough edges over, so as not to create any hot spots and using it.
Maybe even take a little out of the other 4 chambers to equalise compression. I dont think squish will suffer.
What are peoples thoughts on this?

It's hard to tell from the picture, but there could very well be cracks in that head. The valve seat is awfully close to the damage on the right of the picture. If it was my own, I'd get it cleaned up and tested for leaks and crack before doing anything else.

I see your point, but the seat is definitely not affected. The lighting makes it look unclear.

Something's been 'thru' there, that doesn't happen on its own. Better pull the pistons and check 'em..
