Does any one now.. if there is a difference between Fiat 131 1600 gear box year 1976 and a 131 2000tc year 1980.

If they are TC boxes, the internals and ratios are identical.

You may find however that the gearshift attachment is different although if the 1.6 box does not already have the remote change assembly fitted the 2 liter one can be put on there.

Hi guy.
My box are not a tc but an ordinary 1600 but it have the exact same ratios as the abarth gearbox. that confuse me...

1 3,612
2 2,045
3 1,357
4 1
5 0,870

The diameter is a littel different
my 1600 box 215mm diameter.
Abarth box 230mm

I just found an allmost new agenta 2000tc year 85 gearbox for no money at all, 2000km that why I started to look this up. But why change if they are the same.

It is common to have the same gearbox ratios in a family of engines of different size, to suit the output of the engine they just change the differential ratio.

No point changing I suppose,

The only possible benefit from the late 131/132 box is a sligtly longer 5th gear: 0.83 instead of 0.87.
I dont know at what date the change happened, I just saw it in a 131 manual from 1974 and the Argenta Volumex manual.

Just found out this usal information about the gearbox difference.

Argenta and 131 racing have abarth extension and solid aluminium casing with no steel plate at the bottom. The other gearbox, has a ribbed casing and a steel plate at the bottom.

Also the gearbox should have fixed rear nut for the driveshaft, the 132 had a floating nut.
