Selector Forks

Post by FIAT125T »

Hi there, as many will be well aware the factory gear selector forks in the standard 124/125 4 and 5 speed boxes have an issue with strength. In my 125T I am about to experiment with a Lada part (from the Niva 4WD) which I got hold of NOS and appears to be identical to the Fiat part apart from having more "meat" in the arms of the fork than the Fiat ones. Hopefully this will solve the issue of jumping out of gear, however the real test will be to see if it lasts beyond the usual 2 seasons of the old Fiat ones.
My question relates to a fellow racer who runs X 1/9 prototipo replicas. They are using Beta gearboxes converted with dog gears, however still using std selector forks, and bending them! Are the selector forks interchanchable between the RWD 124/125 box and the FWD Beta box?
thank you
Paul
