Fiat Argenta big-wing sump conversion

I am interested in modifying an big wing Fiat Argenta steel oil pan in order to make it more effective during cornering. Guy Croft recently posted that someone sent him a Power Point presentation covering such modifications but he is currently unable to locate it. I would appreciate a copy of the presentation if someone has a copy. I hope the creator of the presentation is on this list.
Thanks in advance,
Tom McGaffigan

Hello Guy, hello Tom

I have done the modifications to the Argenta pan, after mounting it first and finding the performance way worse than the standard deep pan (2 L 124 Spider). Main reason was ground clearance, if the Spider goes down on its bump stops, the std oil pan is below ground.

I modified it then with the very much apreciated advice from GC.
I try to convert my old presentation to PDF, hope that works.

The modified pan is now better than the std one, ground clearance no longer an issue. However the downside is the small lefthand side reservoir, which still limits the performance in longer corners. So before you start, think about relocating the oil filter and extend the left reservoir. I did install an Accusump, which is the other possibility. I can now watch the oil temperature drop in a hard driven 270‚° roundabout, when the Accusump supplies the oil after the small reservoir is empty...

It is really nice to have this forum, thanks Guy.

Regards
Thomas

Thomas and Guy that was a fast response!
Thomas, great information thank you very much. My 131 engine should survive a little longer now in the corners.

Hi folks,
Does anyone have this powerpoint or .pdf document still available for the winged sump modifications?
I am having low oil pressure issues on LH cornering only. Engine in a GBS Zero.
Also, what should the engine oil capacity be with this sump fitted?
Much appreciated.
thank you
AG

Hello all

Thomas Ruck derived a conversion for the 100% useless Argenta sump... years ago!

I have no record of that although it may be on the forum somewhere. I have not heard from Thomas for YEARS.

The Argenta sump cannot easily be altered into something worth having, along with a short list of useless sumps produced by Fiat/Lancia....

I make GC race sumps for applications like this but I doubt the respected member will want to pay for one of those..
