Hello Tom,

Thanks for the response.
Good tip about the flatness of the head and block; I'll have this checked before installing the refurbished head.
Valves installed last time were original Fiat parts, so quality should be good.

In the mean time I got response from the workshop; they told me this kind of damage is typical for a cylinder head that has been too hot.
So somewhere temperatures might have been too high, but why? Insufficient cooling? Mixture too lean?

Hello Guy,

Same project, but a different question:
I have a set of Tipo 16V 5 door camshafts so I want to swap the inlet cam of my coupé with the Tipo inlet cam.
Because the Tipo cam has a higher lift and a larger overlap, probably more air will flow into the cylinder. (In fact, this is where you swap the cams for)
However, because the Coupé 16vT has no mass air flow sensor but a map sensor the motor management does not recognise there is more air in the cylinder.
Therefore the mixture may become too lean.

Does this mean a cam swap always has to be done together with an ECU remap?
