Urgent: Flywheel step needed

Post by Uros Piperski »

Hi everyone,
I am making a clutch conversion on my Dedra 8v turbo. Until yesterday I had a 230mm cerametallic plate and a stock Valeo push type cover. I am switching to a pull type cover from a Thema 16v turbo (also went on AR 155q4, 2.0 v6 turbo and 3.0 v6) and I will be using an organic plate from a 2.4 JTD engine (235mm diameter).

I redrilled the flywheel for the new cover but I am not sure about the flywheel step. Now it doesn't have any, like a local specialist suggested. I am not sure that is correct and I wouldn't like to change the clutch again too soon.
Can anyone specify the FW step used on the above mentioned engines?
or
When I lay the cover over the plate there is a 4.2mm gap. Is this enough?

Thanks!
Uros

the standard Lancia step is 20thou" (0.5mm).

To assess the step with the non standard clutch plate you need to compare its thickness with the OE one. If the new plate is thicker reduce the depth of the step accordingly.
